All organisations and institutions whose main aim includes the promotion of linguistic science and to further co-operation among linguists, may become members.
An organisation or institution may join CIPL by applying to the Executive Committee (through the Secretary-General). The organisation/institution has to appoint a delegate in CIPL’s General Assembly who meets every five years during the ICL.
Each member remits an annual contribution to CIPL. Together with the annual report, the Secretary-General sends an invoice with all information needed to transfer the contribution to CIPL’s bankaccount.
