CIPL and ELDP, Endangered Languages Documentation Programme, now based at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences, maintain warm relations. That is why CIPL wants to highlight the in-person training courses in Language Documentation and Archiving provided by ELDP.
Unfortunately, registration for the upcoming training in June and July of this year has just closed, but ELDP plans to organise more of these trainings in the near future. The intensive hands-on training comprises five days, including homework assignments to be completed each evening.
The training program covers the following topics:
• Language Documentation theory & methods
• Understanding and creating archival collections
• Audio and video recording methods
• Transcription, translation, and annotation with ELAN
• Lexicography and dictionary creation with Fieldworks Language Explorer (FLEx)
• Metadata creation and managing data
• Project planning and design
• Grant writing for language documentation projects
